Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Nilgiri District spreads over an area of 321 sq.km.The five rangers of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve includes Masinagudi, Theppakad, Kaarkudi, Mudumalai and Nelakottai.There are many wildlife animals including Elephants, Tigers and Leopards have been living here.There were also more than a hundred tigers has been found in this place.

 

Daily the forest department people are monitoring not only the tigers but also other wild animals.Tracking survey has been conducted twice a year in order to monitor the movement of the tigers and to find whether it has sufficient food or not.

 

This year's second estimation survey began on last Wednesday.Special training has been given to tracking team on Tuesday.They started working on Wednesday from early morning hours.

 

Each group of Tracking Team comprising of a Forest Employee,a Hunting Security Gaurd and a College Student.Every day these teams are going to do the tiger survey for their allocated area from morning till evening.Direct and indirect estimation of carnivore and herbivore 

will be done in the survey.

 

Similarly, the team will also do the survey by seeing the footprint and the residue of the animals.The team has seen 4 Tigers on the first-day survey, which was held at Masinagudi and Theppakadu places.
