The water level of Kamaraj Sagar Dam increased due to continuous rain

Kamaraj Sagar Dam has filled fully with water due to continuous series of rain in Nilgiri District.So 160 cubic feet water has been discharged per second from the dam.

 

Kamaraj Sagar Dam is situated near Thalaikundha in Ooty.The height of the dam is 118 Feet.Electricity is generated by using stored water of the dam.

 

There was heavy and continuous North East Monsoon rain for the past few days over Nilgiri District.There is also a rain in Kamaraj Sagar Water catchment areas too.So the water level in the Kamaraj Sagar Dam has been increased.As a result, the dam fully filled with water.The water in the dam has opened for the public safety.

 

The Supervising Director of Kunda Mr.Raghu said,”Kamaraj Sagar Dam is 118 Feet tall, currently the water level have reached 116.5 feet.So the 160 cubic feet per second water has been opened for the safety."

 

The water which have been received at Glamorgan Dam is then sent to Singara Hydroelectric station through giant pipes, where the electricity generated from the water.

 

The water level has also risen at the places including Pykara, Mukurthi and Emerald in Nilgiri District.The officials said, there is enough level of water are there at all the dams for generation of electricity in Nilgiri District.
