Despite the showers, there was moderate inflow of tourists to the hill station though the summer season is over and the rain has begun.
Tourist inflow was about 40 per cent of that witnessed during the ‘season’ period.
This was because of the delay in re-opening of schools and also because colleges are yet to reopen.
Tourists were seen enjoying the showers at many places such as Ooty Lake and Botanical Garden.
While a section of the tourists braved the showers to see the places of tourist attraction, the others were content to enjoy the rain without moving around too much.
N. Chandrasekhar, Honorary Secretary of The Nilgiris Hotels and Restaurants Association, said that “tourists are kept warm” by providing them additional blankets and heaters for all rooms.
Those who venture out of the hotels are provided with umbrellas and even rain coats or jerkins, he added.
