162nd death anniversary of Nilgiris first collector Mr John Sullivan was held yesterday

John Sullivan was the first collector of Nilgiri District.The memorial of John Sullivan located at Kannerimukku near Kotagiri.The 162nd death anniversary was held here yesterday.The Nilgiri district collector Mr Shankar inaugurated the anniversary function and he gave an honour by garlanding to the photo of late Mr.John Sullivan.After that one minute, the silent tribute has been given by the people.

The collector said while speaking at a function,"John Sullivan who developed the Nilgiri District.He had done many development works such as Ooty Lake Development on 1823 and the introduction of Tea in Nilgiris.The credit will go only to Mr.John Sullivan for Nilgiri District Development.

The building works of John Sullivan Park are in process at Kannerimukku in Kotagiri.The works are in progress.Rs 5 Lakhs from  MLA Constituency Development Fund will be allocated for a building works.The park building works will be completed by using this fund and the actions have been taken to reopen this park on June Month.

Though the tribute has been given to John Sullivan by all people, the respect from Government is an important one.So the government has decided to run the John Sullivan Memorial and Park, He added."
