Orchid plants are present at various parts of the Nilgiri District. The orchid flowers which blossom in the plants has found in different colours and shapes.

The flowers are maintained in separate hut only on Avalanche and Kernhill forest areas, which was run by the Horticulture Department.

Since there left only a few weeks to the summer season, the number of visitors to Ooty are also increasing day by day. So the maintaining works of the different types of Orchid Flower Plants are actively in process at Kern Hill Forest. Now the task of watering plants is underway. The flowers start to bloom at the end of April month. The tourists can enjoy these eye-catching flowers.

The forest officials said, "The orchid flowers have been maintained at Kern Hill forest areas. Now the staffs are involved in maintaining work. The flowers will start to blossom before the summer season starts. So the tourists can enjoy visiting flowers who has decided to visit the Nilgiri District.”
