Cikur Forest becomes a dwelling place to rare species of birds.So social activists have been demanding that the survey needs to be conducted separately for these birds.

 

Nilgiri Bio-Ecological zone is in first place of Bio-Ecological zone of India.This Bio-Ecological Zone has 5,520 Sq.Km area.There is wilderness in three states including Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

 

 

The  are totally 3,300 types of Plant Species,100 species of mammals, 350 species of birds 120 species of reptiles and 300 species of butterflies are living in this bio-ecological zone.

 

Recently wild life survey had been held at north, south and Gudalur wildlife areas.The rare birds made the volunteers to surprise.Various kind of forest animals displaced due to drought condition.But there were various rare species of birds found in  places including the rivers and small streams.This makes the forest 

people happy.

 

The social activists said, there are 350 species of birds living in Nilgiri Zone.Now, there is no separate survey conducted for birds.If it is conducted then we will come to know the details of the birds which belong to Nilgiri District.

 

Currently, there are birds including Vultures, Indian Bitta, Emerald Dove, Bluebase Malgova, Kirastar Hawk Eagles, Laugh Wing bird(Index Bird), Kingfisher, Valatti Birds and Cemput found in Cikur Forest areas.

 

Therefore, they requested to take appropriate action and requested to conduct a separate survey to find out the birds of Nilgiri District.
