Planting works have been starting at Coonoor Sim's Park

Nilgiri District is also known as Queen of Hill Station, which has numerous tourist attractions.Coonoor is the second most visited hill stations in Nilgiri District.There are many tourist places in Coonoor also.Sim’s Park becomes one of the Major Tourist Destination in Coonoor.This park is owned by the Horticulture Department.

 

Planting works being held annually on every January Month in order to prepare the park for the fruit Show which will be organised in this park for two days. The forthcoming 59th fruit show will be going to be held on May Month.

 

The planting works have been started at this park on the day before yesterday.The Deputy Director of Horticulture Department Mrs Umarani has inaugurated the Planting Works.

 

In a first phase, the flower plants which have a long life such as Salvia and Delia plants have been planted in the garden.It has been planned to plant 3,60,000 new flower plants for this Year fruit show.

 

Two thousand flower seedlings are planted in a Flower Pots.The planting works are carried out at the Glass House and various other parts of the garden.

 

There are 125 different types of flower seedlings including Salvia, Antirrhinum, palcam, pekoniya, Marigold, French Marigold, fancy geranium, petunia and jenniya are planted in Sim's Park. The seeds of these flower plant were brought form the following countries; USA, Japan, France and Germany.

 

The Assistant Director of Horticulture Department Mr Gopalan, Other Officers and employees of the park were present in this event.
