Parsons Valley DamUpdated by : Travel2ooty on December/15/2016

The water from Parsons valley has been supplying drinking water to Wellington Army Center. The dam water has also used for power generation. As there were no expected Monsoon rains in Nilgiri District, so the water levels of all the main sources of drinking water and power generations were reduced rapidly.

Tiger hill and Marlimund are the main areas from where the drinking water is distributing to Ooty municipal areas.Since there is no monsoon rain, the water levels of other dams including Tiger hill and Marlimund has also dried. So there was a problem in supplying drinking water to Ooty and Wellington Army Center. Some of the electrical power station were turned off. So the water which should be directed to power stations were redirected to Parsons Valley Dam.The water level in the dam has increased due to Nada Cyclone also. The water level in the dam has risen dramatically. The water will be taken from the parson's valley dam after the process of power generation using water starts in Nilgiri District.
