The weighing survey of Mudumalai Elephants
Mudumalai Tiger Reserve is located near Gudalur.Totally 24 breeding elephants were present in this Mudumalai sanctuary.Unfortunately, one of the breeding elephants died.Now there are 23 breeding elephants are present in Ooty Mudumalai sanctuary.Every day at evening time nutrition foods is providing to these elephants.Veterinary teams have also been working to protect the elephants and to check the physical health of the breeding elephants.
The weight estimation of the breeding elephants has been taken by the acrobatics at least for every three months.The breeding elephant weight was estimated on the last September.Mahout brought their elephants to Weighing Center which is located in Thorapalli in Gudalur.The weight of seventeen elephants including Moorthi, Vasim, Indher, Indra, Barathi and Krishna has been found in the survey.Due to medical treatment not able to find the weight of remaining six elephants.
Mudumalai Veterinary Doctor Dr Vijaya Ragavan and other acrobatics were involved in weighing survey of elephants.In this, they have found that the weight of elephants such as Vasim, Barathi and Jampu were increased around 50kg to 150 kg.But the weight of Moorthi elephant has decreased around 200kg.
The acrobatics has said " The weight fluctuations of the breeding elephants is common.The extra care will be taken to the elephants which have less weight.The nutrition foods and special training will also be given to those elephants.The weighing survey work has been completed around 2 pm on 20th December 2016.After that, the acrobatics take their breeding elephants to Mudumalai Theppakadu and Bombakes camps."
