Kothar Tribal People praying for rain in Kollimalai near Ooty on Yesterday

This year there is no expected south-west and north-east rain in Nilgiri District.So there is a shortage water problem in most of the places of Nilgiris.The water level of the dams was reduced greatly, so hydropower generation also affected.The Nilgiri People are conducting special Poojas and praying for a rain.

Yesterday the member of Kothar Tribe perform a ritual to appease the rain gods in Kollimalai, near Ooty on Monday.All the women were going to Ayyanor Ammanor temple and worshipped together for a rain.Then they went to the place where the source of water starts with pots.They carried water from the well to worship their God.

They poured the water to the trees after their worship.Their hope is that they will get a monsoon rain if they will do a worship like this.There were a number of women took part in this worship.
