April is one of the most popular months to visit Ooty. As the plains become hot, the Nilgiri hills offer a refreshing break with cool and breezy conditions. Many schools begin their vacation, so family crowds start increasing around mid–April.
Daytime temperatures are usually in the range of 18°C to 25°C, while nights are around 12°C to 16°C. The climate is very comfortable for full–day sightseeing, boating, toy train rides and walks in the Botanical Garden.
For April 2026, book hotels and cabs in advance as this is part of the main on–season. Light cotton clothes with a thin jacket for evenings will be sufficient.
