St.Stephen's Church
Located on the Mysore Road in Ooty, St. Stephen’s Church is one of the old heritage in Nilgiri District. It is known for its old colonial structure. This is constructed using a high-quality wood.

This old colonial church built under British Raj, the architect in charge is Captain John James. The foundation had been laid by the Governor of Madras (Stephen Rumbold Lushington) on April 23, 1829.So the church is named as St. Stephen’s.
The special feature is that the timber used in the church was taken from Tipu Sultan’s palace after the defeat of Tipu Sultan with the Britishers.
Stephen’s church is main tourist attractions. The worship in the church will give a great experience to the visitors.
